My wife's Cartier Tank needs a new battery. I looked on Cartier's website and it states it's only £40 at a Cartier Boutique but I don't live anywhere near one. Is it worth registering with Cartier on their website to see if I can post it direct, just get a back street watch repairer to do it or get someone like Goldsmith's to send it off? I am sure last time I used a high street jeweler to send it off it was around £120.

I took my mother's Cartier to to one of these in Derby. Cost about £75.
Did it whilst I waited and it's going strong 18 months-ish later

I used Richard Rigg,on here to service, clean and replace the battery on my Cartier Santos recently.

He did my wife's Omega Constellation a few months ago.

Really pleased with his work.

Thanks for the replies. I am based in Middlesbrough so the closest branches are about 50 miles away (Sunderand or Leeds) but am often in Leeds for work so is worth a look.

Thanks, I might have a drive up as I have 2 that require new battery's. Especially, if he can do both while I wait.

Similarly I changed the battery on my Omega myself for around £5 for OEM battery & £10 for a watch tool kit from Amazon !
That was 3 or 4 years ago, no probs, 1st battery lasted 5 years.
The closest it gets to diving is a shower..

Psst, the battery costs about £1. It takes less than 10 minutes to change it over. Even though it says "Cartier" on the dial there is no special sauce involved.

Just find a local watchmaker, ask for a battery and a pressure test. If they can't do a pressure test, find another watchmaker. Expect to pay about £20 for the battery replacement and check. Much more and you are being robbed.

The pressure check will show if the seals need replacing.

I'm always amazed at what people pay for batteries. Some are absolutely shocking and we've seen some of those use crap batteries too.

We charge £7.50-£10 depending on the battery type (standard Vs lithium), whether there's a chrono reset needed or if there's more than one battery in the watch. Obviously if a pressure test is requested then that's extra.

Most battery changes take from 30 secs to 5 mins so I can't see how some retailers are getting away with £50+

I’ve just used these guys. Really straight forward - they collect it, fix it then return it. Highly recommended.

I presume it's the eight screws along the back on this one? My little kit of small screwdrivers has nothing tiny enough - anyone know the size? I drew a blank with YouTube. Ta.
