How can you tell ?

You maybe able to tell its an HC if its got double valve springs, mine definitely has. Don't think the bog standard 4.0 has these.

Might be able to see with a torch through the oil filler (maybe being a bit optimistic) or at worst by lifting the rocker cover off.

If you were to ask Trinitycall (aka Dr WoC), I'm sure that he would confirm that:

• The HC has at least a 10% 'moist' factor over the standard cars;

• The HC can snap knicker elastic at a distance of 50 feet over standard; and

• Only the HC can really 'blow his skirt up'.

To the others who replied, have I missed some willy waving contest?

I've just recently took my engine apart and can confirm the following differances over standard 4.0 RV8s for my 4.0 HC:

TVR435R/M camshaft (High lift & long duration cam used in 4.5 & 5.0)
Vernier camshaft sprocket and double roller chain
Double spring valves
Machined pockets in piston crowns for valve clearance
Standard diameter but Waisted Inlet Valves
I'm assuming shorter valve guides to allow for higher lift.

The heads have been machined to accept double springs but are unfortunately not ported & polished though.

At the rollers it produced 198bhp at the wheels, an estimated 235 bhp at the flywheel.

All facts, no willy waving required!

Phone the factory with the chassis number or TVR power with the engine number. Unless you have the original sales invoice.

Certainly for the hotties the 400HC is weapon of choice.

Don't get me wrong, the standard Chimaera is a very sexy car as is a standard Mercedes. However, a Mercedes with an AMG badge is something very, very special. As is a Chimaera with the "HC" badge.

Why go for AMG? or why go for HC? I think it's just for those who have an eye for the best of the best.

Ok, so the HC is more responsive and screams "Bend over!!" to everything less than a formula 1 car. But there are problems with it. Certainly the HC can result in neck injuries due to the increased acceleration.

Accordingly, may i suggest the following when checking over an HC uprated chimaera:-

1. Make sure the head rests are working properly.

oh and...

2. Make sure the hijack lock is functioning properly. (Hotties can be quite aggressive when trying to pull)
