Hi All,

I have a 2015 Mercedes GLC. It recently went for a service and after the service I started to feel vibration in the auto gearbox/engine and low speeds. I took it back to which Mercedes said they did not do anything which would have caused this in the service.

Anyways... after 2 days of fault finding they admit there is a problem but can’t find the root cause. They now want to replace the engine mounts. I have a warranty but I am told they are not covered under warranty. They want to change the mounts over and if it works then I will get the nice bill of £680. If it doesn’t work they will change it back and I will have no charge.

Does anyone have any similar experiences? I am disappointed that the warranty also doesn’t cover this.

Thanks,

Mike

2015 car - did they change the ATF?

Other thing I've seen mentioned is if the air filter is changed and the airbox isn't refitted correctly (IIRC to do with isolating rubber washers being missed) that can cause vibration to be felt through the car.

One thing is that when the engine mounts (and usually the gearbox mount too) are changed people generally say it's a revelation in how the car feels - I guess as they get worse over time you get used to it. How many miles are on the car?

Turns out it was down to a software modification made during the service. The garage have been going backwards and forwards with Mercedes in Germany. Still not fixed and probably won’t be for a good few weeks now the garage is shut. The joys of modern cars!

Did you sort this Mike? Seeing more and more people with this issue, myself included.

Hey - no I didn’t solve it. It went on for a year with it in the garage for many weeks. In the end I sold the car. No idea how they can mess a software update up so bad that they can’t fix it.

Yeah its crazy. I was about to change the engine and transmission mounts. But if they did that for you and it didn't improve I may not waste my money. Did the new mounts give any improvement?

There was no improvement at all changing the mounts. The issue was all software based around the gearbox. Still not sure why they couldn’t reset it back to the previous update.
