Facebook marketplace scam?

Hi all,

I am selling a few low value car parts on Facebook Marketplace and was recently messaged about a Grande punto Alternator. The chap at the other end was very responsive with messages asking if it was still available and if it was working, although the messages were riddled with typos and bad english. This didn't throw me off as i recently sold a tyre to an eastern European gentlemen with similar typos. Then they asked for my address. I confirmed that they wanted to collect and gave them my address, then silence. I have not heard back from them.

Was this some sort of scam or someone harvesting addresses?

I've had the same thing with a pair of speakers, umm, wonder what is going on

I too have had this but on Gumtree numerous times.
Buyers seem keen, asks the right questions, then when it comes to the address being given out they're gone.
I don't understand what they can get from an address which they could probably get out the phone book.

Its the same with ANY sale of anything on market place. It's horrible to sell on. Millions of messages from people saying "interested", "Is it available" to then get ghosted.

Nah your ok, I put cheap things on collection only if nothing in a few weeks take them to charity.

My guess is...once they have your address they stick it in google maps, realise it is more than a 5-10min drive to collect so can't be bothered

I have had this, 3 times in the Ad it says "PICK UP ONLY FROM LS28 PUDSEY", when you give them the full address I've been told several times "oh that's a bit for for me to come can you post it" Messers all of them.
