Getting bored - possible change coming

Currently got a Golf TDI. It does everything I need it to do. But I'm a bit bored of it already...

I can sell it to WBAC for £9,000 so that's my budget.

What would you go for? Something fun that won't bore me.

Ideally five doors. Thinking petrol over diesel as don't do that many miles come March. Commute to work is 15 minutes down some county A roads.

I've been looking at Focus ST, Subaru Impreza (always wanted one!).

Budget can't be increased, and less would be better.

Or shall I look at getting it remapped?

Go for something you have always wanted I say if you can stomach the fuel costs.
I'm on the lookout for a Focus ST myself but don't find myself getting particularly excited about them.

The ST is an odd one for me. We used to have one at work, and whilst it was quick, it wasn't what I was expecting. Also rather cramped. But then we had a load of kit on as well.

Need to do some research into the Impreza I think. Will have a look at the SLK as well.

Just went to view an Impreza...all set to buy it. Until I drove it.

Massively disappointed with it. One of the cars I've always wanted as a kid as well.

Any other suggestions would be most welcome .

Go for the 2.5T Focus they're a cracking car & that 5 pot never gets old.

If a Golf GTi was an option, you could also think about a Skoda Octavia VRs or Seal Leon Cupra.

More exciting than a Golf TDI is a V8 AMG. Plenty of choice at £9k.

In what way? I always wanted one as a kid too and is/was on my bucket list.

That's the thing...i just can't put my finger on it, but knew if I got it, I'd regret it. Didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for.

Was it a classic or bug-eye? For me, the bug-eye lost the magic and rawness of the classic which was what made it feel so alive. The STi even more so!

Personally I'd look for a great BMW 130i or an M135i - but then I do like RWD!

There are 30 odd ST 2 and ST 3...should I be looking at one more than the other?

If you need 5 seats then it would rule the ST3 out as its a 4 seater. Other than that, try and keep as close to stock as possible, then service history and a sign that its been cared for.

I can't decide what to do...

Golf does everything I need it to do. Reliable, comfy, cheap to run. It's just a bit boring.

Am I mad for considering selling a six year old car with 35,000 miles for a 13-12 year old car with 80,000 miles...

Part of me thinks just stay with the Golf. Although I would get around £3,000 back.
