WBAC better part ex price
Discussion
So guys, i test drove a car Sunday and agreed to buy it. Pick it up saturday. We agreed a part ex price on my car but the dealer wouldn't move a penny on the car I'm buying off them. Now then, WBAC have offered me an extra 800 quid for my car which is significant amount. (I know they chip you down but can't see it bei g 800 quids worth.) Thing is though where do I stand with the dealer if they've already put my car down on the paperwork? They won't lose any money off the car they're selling to me.

When they checked my car, I heard the salesman say to his colleague its a nice little car. I'll call the garage tomorrow and see what they say. If they get funny about it, I'll point out they haven't lost any money on their car and as they have a blank advert up for mine already, they stand to make a gross profit of 2300.
Don’t be surprised if your lucky to get away with £800 worth of reductions when you actually tip up at WBAC - they are renowned for it.
My mother recently took a reasonably tidy E91 3 Series in for valuation and every mark and I mean every mark was £50 off! It doesn’t take long to rack up £800.
Good luck whichever route you go, but also bear in mind if you tip up having sold it to WBAC and expect a better deal because now your a cash buyer - it’s unlikely as a chunk of the p/ex offer will have come out of the profit on the car your buying and they will have factored in making a few hundred trading your p/ex on.
Contrary to the ad campaign a straight deal isn’t always better!

So it doesn't make any difference they've already put my car down on the paperwork as the part ex?
If you let them know far enough in advance it shouldn't matter, as they will just change the paperwork so the balance due for the new car will be increased by whatever they valued the car at. flashbang said:

Had similar when I bought my car. All the figures were based off them px'ing at a certain price and by selling elsewhere at a higher price, just meant I pocketed the difference.Edited by flashbang on Thursday 6th February 19:34

Thanks guys. Not sure if I should phone the garage out of courtesy or just go straight to WBAC this afternoon?
I would ring them and let them know you are going to WBAC and will let them know either way after. You will get a gauge from this conversation, chances are unless it’s a desirable PX they won’t be fussed. Part ex's not coming in isn't uncommon, usually they are sold elsewhere or given to a family member.
I've even had the conversation with someone when sorting order paperwork "just let me know if you do sell it elsewhere/give it to your grandson, I'll just take it off the paperwork"
TBH depending on what it is, it can be easier if a part ex doesn't come in.

If they have factored selling your part ex on for a profit into the deal then they may be a bit upset . The deal was based on the part ex , I’d say you are breaking the deal . But they might not care . If you think about it they could immediately sell your to WBAC at a profit Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
