just had a browse through the PH classifieds and i'm amazed at the amount of seemly great deals on offer!
theres an abundance of nice low mileage 450 & 500's most not much above the £15k mark
this time last year i was struggling to find one! let alone have a whole bunch of cheap ones to choose from....

I take it you've not seen E-bay then? 98/99 Chims going for as little as 12k. Makes you sick when you realise your own car you only purchased 5 months ago has de-valued so much.
When I bought mine in Jan there was very few good deals to be had, and I thought I was buying cheap due to time of year. How little did I know...

Hmm.... sorry, it all comes down to the old mantra of "condition, condition, condition".
When I was looking last year, there were so seriously ropey examples about... people asking silly money for cars that clearly had not been looked after properly. "No expense spared" ... really..? Is that why the one of the dampers is leaking, you have four different brands of tyres on it, the alloys are scuffed, the seat damaged and half the electrics don't work..?
Even main dealers are not exempt from this (and they should be bloody thankful of Ted's "no name and shame" policy)... I looked at a V-reg car on a main dealer forecourt.. poorly repaired scratches, damaged hood and an outrigger with a hole rusted through..!!!!

I often wonder why people sell things like TVRs on ebay (where the prices are dead attractive).
Smells of possible desparation to me - I personally would never buy something as potentially problematic as a TIV (of any kind) from such a marketplace.
As others have said - it's condition, condition, and condition ultimately, and I for one would pay significantly more for that piece of mind.
