Audi Q3/5 or RR Evoque? - Page 1 - Car Buying

Which would be a better choice and why? This is a choice of replacement car for my lovely sister,

That's pretty much it.....discuss.

C'mon Guy....I know your knowledge base can muster more than that.
Are there any known issues with either of them?

They can't be identical apart from asthetics....

Haha.

The problem is I never tend to get involved when it comes to recommending to family, if they don't like it then......well, they never blame themselves.

I would not touch anything with the 2.0 diesel from JLR at the moment, real issues with it.
Certainly in the smaller cars anyway, the adblue system is contaminating the oil and diluting it.

My old mans Disco Sport had to have 3 oil services in a year and 11k miles. He got out before the issue got too well known.

A petrol Evoque I would imagine being pretty nice.

I actually like the Q5, the new one is a good looking thing and if you're going to have an Audi may as well be that sort of car imho.

Evoque is nice, are you talking new or used? We've an evoque dynamic owned since new in 2014 (64 plate) and put 60k on it so far. Aside from servicing its not cost us a penny in maintenance bar brakes and tyres.
Boot is small though.

We went from Q5 to DiscoSport both 2.0d, both good cars and the DS is now at 51k miles with zero cost and no oil dilution problems.It goes almost 20k miles between services 15k miles between Adblu top ups and tyres and brakes lasted 50k miles.
Both cars were great workhorses but the Q5 held its value far better. .

I'm finding the Q5 holds value when it's well spec'd but not so much if it's a base S Line/Plus as there are lots out there, Dico Sports/Evoque's are paying the price for their success but again the well spec'd ones stand out & retain better value.

Our Q5 has done 60k mikes and 6 years old and retained 50% of its new purchase price!

I'm not disagreeing with you I agrre they're holding value but not all models as I said above, the JLR products are paying for their success in the fact that used values are lower & they're not German but they're not far off & like the Q5 are spec sensitive when it comes to value.

When it comes to space/performance/spec/fit & finish for me the Infiniti QX50 is nigh on impossible in this class to beat unless you need a petrol:

Yeah, that would be my choice too.

I loved Fiona's X3.
My old man borrowed it for a weekend and ended up buying it from me.
He then sold it to buy a Q5, he really liked the look of it, but after my mate got him one for 48 hours realised he didn't actually like it, hence buying the Disco Sport.
I said he should have bought a year old RRS, but he wanted the DS.
I know he didn't like it from the off, he kept saying things like "It is a nice car isn't it? No BMW, but nice." Then when he had the issues he just got out of it.

He is still thrilled with the X6, but he did say in many ways he still preferred the X3 over all of them.

I agree, I would have another X3 again, great, great cars imho.
