Just renewed insurance with NU Direct.
Discussion
I've just renewed the Z06 with Norwich Union Direct who consumed Hill House Hammond during the course of my last policy.
They quoted me a very reasonable £401 for 4000 miles and £30 cashback to boot. Sounded a bit too good to be true - a quid more than last year and £29 cheaper in reality? Out of an abundance of caution, I rang them and painstakingly went through all the details again, explained what a Z06 was as they'd never heard of it, explained that my NCB was in use on another car and any NCB they were giving me was a concessionary mirror.
The old chestnut resurfaced. We argued the toss on the alarm point again wherein I once again declined to butcher the wiring and explained that UK spec Corvettes were Thatcham 1 and seem only to get a different keyfob to cater for Euro-frequencies (?) so can we all get real for a second! I'm pleased to say that they eventually agreed to my terms and conditions so I gave them the business. LOL.
Out of interest I rang AON who were very polite but estimated a premium in the £700-£800 range for 3000 miles. They were very gracious and indicated straight away that they couldn't come anywhere near NU Direct. You know you've got a good premium when even the insurers you ring balk at your premium.
Now - back to selling it so I can have my Cadillac....
