Ask a parent...
Discussion
Sorry I expect this is a stupid question but it is confounding me.
My son has an Xbox live account and I have a family parent account to pay subscriptions, enable him to buy rubbish on Fortnite etc. To prevent “accidents” I’ve switched “ask a parent” for purchases on. Microsoft tells me it will let me know when my child requests a purchase. How will let me know? Email? Text? Carrier pigeon?
He’s made a purchase request and I’ve received no notification (that I’m aware of). When he’s made purchases with ask a parent off I get an email more or less straight away to tell me.
I’ve googled it but all I can find is how to switch it on. Not how I’m notified!
Sometimes being a parent is so frustrating!
Thanks for any help.

I see what you’re saying but it was definitely “ask a parent” I switched on rather than notifications per se. I don’t know where that’s configured!
I switched it back off and we bought something from the Fortnight store. Sure enough it went straight through (no parental permission required) and en email notification followed.
I wondered if the request might appear in my Xbox live messages inbox (which would be useless if I wasn’t next to him when he asks permission) but all that’s in there are old messages about the price of Xbox live going up.

I am sure a mate of mine has this setup and there is an app on his iPhone where he gets the notifications and can control the screentime stuff etc. Might be the Xbox app though.
