I’m looking at upgrading out of my 2005 corolla into something faster and that doesn’t make me want to die any time I drive it. I’m looking at lease deals on a 2016 polo gti and they look to be the full package. Is there anything I’m missing? I am only 19 so insurance is the limiting factor from buying something faster.

You can go faster for cheaper if you can live without the GTI badge. A mapped diesel is quicker, better on fuel, cheaper to insure and if it looks like a standard car it is very unattractive to thieves.

You won't get a lease deal on a used car, also check the interest rate on the finance as you may be better off getting a loan, also insurance will be your limiting factor so maybe look at a warm hatch like A Swift Sport/Mito 120/140/155/170 models.

Finally there are better options if you want a small hot hatch.
