talk me out of buying a petrol range rover sport
Discussion
morning all,
currently have a bmw x6 35d, problem being that i use my work van 6 days a week, so dont really get much use out of it, so im now thinking do i get something terribly thirsty that wont give me dpf issues etc etc, iv been looking at 4.2 supercharged cars mainly 07 plates, is there any other suggestions out there, i am partial to a jap car but am starting to find them a bit plain to be in. budget of £9000.

You want to buy a 13 year old Rangerover? I'm sure you already know that the bills are going to be eye watering for the potential Bork factor which could eclipse the purchase price.
Personally if I was looking at that type of car I'd take my chances on a V8 X5 or even a Cayenne Turbo first and that's saying something.

Do you want talking into it or out of it?
In; do it, there isnt many vehicles that do it all. YOLO etc.
Out; take the 9k put it in a bin and set fire too it, less stressful way off losing the money.
I wouldn't touch a range rover with a barge pole, as nice as they are I just couldn't deal with the aggro or the constant worrying but I'm not a risk taker.

cheers for the replies guys, went to look at a couple today,
vehicle number 1, been wrapped white with a black roof, could still see lots of silver where the wrap had been done badly, dealer says it has service history but the previous owner hasnt sent it in yet, covered in dog hair and interior scratched to pieces,
vehicle number 2: black 07 plate, 115k on it, decent service history, drove well......other than when i tried the air suspension, it lifted fine the first time, and then failed on the second attempt, saying compressor to hot, but that sound though
so....im going to have a scroll through zx10's suggestions and go from there. im not too worried about potential bork factor, part of the gamble i guess
, car will only be doing around 4-5 k a year, and i always have my van or the mrs car to fall back on.

If you get one from the right kind of owner they can be great cars, the problem is that many have fallen into the hands of people who don't look after them. I did a thread about mine here. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Just bought a 2010 FFRR supercharged autobigraphy.. 80k miles.. expecting it to fall apart any second really. Already got a rear door jammed locked shut (probably superlock) and my ears are peeled for the inevitable timing chain rattle (the guides wear out) not to mention the gearbox problems that seems to crop up.. if its not your only form of transport and you don't mind dropping several thousand to fix it when something goes wrong go for it!
