V12V - main dealer brake disc check
Discussion
It's supposed to be done annually with each service, but, it doesn't get done
Depends on mileage
How many miles has your car done and when we're pads replaced
Rule of thumb is 3 sets of pads equal new rotors
Search forum for CCM rotors, there is a long discussion on it
Oh congrats by the way - stonking good cars!
Graze

Thanks Graze - i wonder if there would be any comeback if they were not checked but I had an issue later on (car comes with 12m AM warranty but assuming discs/pads not covered) Depends on mileage

No record of pads being changed in service records I saw - approaching 20k miles.
Also wondering if discs are only checked when pads are changed?
The time spent looking over the car is a bit of a blur unfortunately, excitement took over.
The problem is the discs are supposed to be kiln dried first, then weighed. Thats not a quick process and I doubt that many dealers have the equipment, will, or inclination to bother. As a customer service experience it isn’t going to go down well in terms of timescales for service times, and not many dealers are enthusiastic about giving any owner the wonderful news that their ccm discs need changing for several thousands.
As Soofsayer said, checking CCM's is a big time-consuming (i.e. expensive) undertaking and rarely needed for CCM's at that mileage - it's not about rotor thickness but weight, which indeed involves a kiln to dry them out.
I am sure they would check them visually - things that can be seen on CCM's visually is whether detergents have been used for cleaning (damages the CCM's), any notable scoring (from the pads), or chips/cracks. You can expect the rotors often will show some roughness, visible in the grain - that's perfectly normal.
My V12V is similar mileage, also on it's first set of pads, wouldn't expect to change them until 30-40k miles. The discs if looked after properly will last 3x pad sets as also said above. Be exceedingly cautious if taking them on track, that can wear them far more quickly. If you need replacement then check with Rebrake in Germany first, for refurbishment at a fraction of the cost of new ones.

I bet no UK Aston Martin franchise main dealer has the kiln needed to dry out brake discs. Why? In the last what - 11 years has anyone on this forum ever written that their discs have been kiln dried and weighed by a UK Aston Martin franchise main dealer?BlackV8 said:

Yes here in Bordeaux when I bought my car with 74000kms ... I was worried about the brakes and they did it ! everything was ok with the original brake pads only half worn !!! and very shiny discs
