If your wife will be buying it, then surely she should choose? Prius' are pretty bloody reliable anyway, see all the taxi drivers that use them.

All she wants is a reliable car, she doesn't know anything about cars but she likes prius because of the screen.

Just get the Prius.
It'll be less hassle.
Remember - if ANYTHING goes wrong with the Jazz, Like it needs an MOT, or a service, or tyres, that will be ALL YOUR FAULT AND I TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE PRIUS.

No car related reasons to not buy it apart from the Cats getting nicked.

If she is not into driving then there is not much to discourage her from getting one,
other than it wasn’t really that good on mpg when push hard and driving a lot of high speed on motorway, still better than non hybrid though

As we speak i am browsing furiously trying to get some test drives in... Prius is the car she wants, she loves it... I wanted to get a cheapo micra auto shed but she didn't buy it.

She will never drive the car hard, the car will never see above 3k rpm

The Honda seems to have a less than stellar reliability record. The merc wont be fuel efficient enough for her type of driving.

Maybe once she sees the car in person she will change her mind.

Sit her in the Mercedes then take her to look at the Prius & I reckon she'll forsake some fuel economy.

If she's driving it, then get the Prius.

The only reason not to do so is if the Prius is a total dog of a car, which in general it isn't (see previous thread). Clearly you need to look at the actual car in question, but in general the Prius is as near to bork free as you can get.

Regarding having the cats nicked - both Jazz and Prius are susceptible to this for some reason. Presumably the cat is easy to access. So I wouldn't use this as a factor.
