My Mk2 GT3 makes a very odd "clonking" noise from the front when I go over a hefty-ish bump at low speed - it sounds like something is loose or broken and it's coming from the front somewhere. When I took it to OPC they said "they all do that" - is that true (or is my toolbox loose or something stupid)?
Please help!

Try taking the spare, tools, compressor, and all that garbage out, and then going for a bumpy drive. See if it makes a difference. If so, put stuff back in, one at a time...

Sounds like the front Anti-roll bar is loose. Same happened on my RS.

As soon as I get home.....

Sean - how did you get it sorted mate? Did you have to take it to an OPC?

It does sound suspension related.
My old 996 C2 made a clunking noise over bumps & it was the drop links worn.
Probably not this in your case as that would require quite a few miles on the car (that I assume yours hasn't got) but deffo get the front suspension checked

I just had the same thing a few weeks ago - as said above, front anti-roll bar has come away from its mountings. 20 minute job to fix - I got a local garage to sort it for £30 - no parts needed nor specialist knowledge.

My GT2 has just come back from the OPC for a similar low speed clonk, it turned out to be some play in the shock top bolt, just needed tightening and all is quiet again now.

Thanks Guys.
I think that I can trace the moment it started - went over a barley noticeable speed hump at not-so-slow speed.... FFS!

Got the car up onto the ramp at local garage. Right side anti-roll bar had worked itself loose....Tightened up again and clonking gone.
Took 30 seconds.
(garage was very impressed that it was adjustable!)

I had the sme thing on mine.

Thankfully by the time I checked it the nuts on the front anti roll bar were still in place --- just finger tight !
