Looking at going to Rome in the summer for a few days

Checked BA flight schedule and the outbound early morning is one of the cattle trucks

Still it is nice of them telling us what flights NOT to get now

So thats is a no no, esp as i have just found out Ryanair has more leg room than these things

YES i know its Ryanair But why should i pay BA prices for a product that is worse than the cheapo outfits ( haven't checked sleazyjet leg room yet)

The extra money is going in my pocket not BA's At the end of the day it is just a plane getting me from A -B esp short haul

BA appear to be doing all they can to be seen as a budget carrier now. Did LGW-MLE return last month in economy and whilst I know it’s only economy, the service was awful. Couple of hours into a 11hr flight and they’d ‘run out’ of beer after one drinks service. Coming home they completely missed our row during meal service and we had to go and ask for a meal. Little things but the overall experience on easyJet is better.

Easy jet vary between 28 and 29", Ryanair are one of the better low costs for seat space.

Easyjet is tight but I find the new Recaro seats not too bad in comfort terms. Done 3 hours in them without any problem. Ryanair seats on the other hand, always feel really tight to me. If you're saving a fair bit on the ticket, it's worth shelling out a few quid extra for either the front row or an exit row. Came back from Malaga in 1A and did Lanzarote and back in 2F and both were fine.
Jet2's shaped Acro seats are still the benchmark though. You're rammed right in, but the fact you can basically put your knees beside the person in front means it's a lot more comfortable than you might expect.

The other thing I found about the EasyJet NEO I was on a couple of months ago - it's really quiet inside, as in much quieter than a standard jet, even a similar aged A320 CEO.

I think height and bodyshape makes a difference though, I find Jet2's seats the most uncomfortable seats, the base is way to short and the back rest upright.

Yep, loads. If you’re booked on an EasyJet A321 it’ll be a NEO and they’ve got 34 A320 NEOs according to flight radar

Why anyone would voluntarily fly BA economy is beyond me - I stopped flying BA about 10 years ago when it started to go downhill (I'd fly BA even though they were more expensive up to that point).

They are actively trying to make it as uncomfortable and as unpleasant as possible for passengers now being run by the Alex Cruz who is trying to turn it into a very crap budget airline. (I did once in that time have to take a flight from PHX to LHR last minute - disgusting food, ripped carpets, broken everything, and what must be the smallest leg-room legally allowed).

It’s not the plane type at fault - but the individual airlines fitout choices

If in your words it's "just a matter of a plane getting you from A -B esp short haul", why are you gurning about what type of aircraft it's on?

Also, BA fly their "cattle trucks" to Fiumicino.

IIRC Ryanair use both Fiumicino and Ciampino, depending on where you are flying from. Do check which one your flight is going to as it makes a difference in terms of costs and convenience. That extra inch Ryanair give you that you will enjoy for a whole 2 or so hours could well be offset by having to fk around getting into Rome from the secondary airport. And if you are carrying hold luggage, well Ryanair will stiff you nicely for that. And while BA use "cattle trucks" to ferry their passengers, Ryanair fly use Boeings to ferry their cattle.

I refuse to pay my own money to fly BA (around 10 years ago also) they are a disgrace of an airline in that time when I’ve flown with them for work it has continued to support that I made the right decision.

The reason is this i don't like the idea of paying for a ride in a nice reclining seat ( as we did on thwe way out to BCN last yeat) and then find i have to travel back in a seat that doesn't recline and my knees up by my chin for the same price We flew BA instead of Easyjet Ryanair Vuella because of the better hahahaha seating
If i wanted to travel like that i would willing pay the cheaper fare and know what i am getting
Bit like paying for a night out with ( insert girl of your dreams here) and Susan Boyle turns up
The airframe doesn't matter one jot it is the comfort or lack of it on the way back that left a bad impression
So in future i will ask what seat config they have if they say neo then i don't use that flight OK ( and that will apply to the budget boys as well)
Hope that clears it up
The more people moan about those seat the sooner they may ditch them

I will say it again as you obviously were not listening... the Fitout is down to the airline. not the manufacturer.

In any case I have a suspicion that BA does not break out the neo from the older fleet, so no one will be able to answer the question...

Not if you are flying to MLE it's not they'd drop you several thousand miles from your destination!

Ultimately everybody has a choice & nobody forces anybody to fly with BA. If your experience is bad go elsewhere. You'll see as many threads slagging Ryanair & Easyjet so these are your choices or KLM or AirFrance or Lufthansa or Iberia or whoever.

Sorry, I didn't deduce that point from your original post.

Personally speaking as a 5'10 person , on a short flight the relative legroom (especially a 1 inch difference) between airlines wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. The only things that matter are overall price, timing, and the reliability of the airline (with preference to the airline that most flights per day to the destination).

Seems they do. I just had a look at Heathrow to Glasgow for tomorrow - BA1488 is showing as operated by Airbus A321 Neo, the others are just showing Airbus A321 jet etc.
Your point about fitout being down to the airline is 100% valid - AIUI, the Easyjet A320 Neos are identical internally to the refurbished/newer A320 CEOs (i.e. the one with the extra bog at the back removed) and are used interchangeably. You'll never know if it's going to be a CEO or NEO until it actually shows up.
