Hayfever abroad?

Took me two days to work out it wasn't suncream making my eyes sore and itchy
too late for this year, but you can build up immunity.
I used to get it really bad - eyes streaming, sore throat, blocked nose.
now, i'm (touch wood) fine.
when it gets to spring time, make an effort to the cut grass a lot etc. you'll probably start to get hayfever. ignore it. let your eyes stream etc but DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICATION. do this a couple of times and you'll soon find that your hayfever goes away.
I know a number of people who have tried this and although its agony to start with, it's really good now not having to worry about hayfever.
I can cut grass, strim and last year I was cutting oilseed rape and had no problems.

Benadryl is effective within 15 mins and is non-drowsy for a majority of people.
(Note: This is the Benadryl in the blue packet that contains Acrivastine and you can take on-demand up to 3 a day, rather then the orange packet which is a one-a-day and you have to take regularly)
Edit: Of course you can get hayfever abroad. Do you think it is only in the UK that you get pollen and other allegens?

I always used to do this, grin and bear it but it's absolute hell so i thought i'd try the medication this year

I get terrible hayfever here but not tend to get it abroad, certainly didn't last year in Spain.
They have different plants so different allergens. However your body could be sensitive to those aswell!
Always good to take antihistamines anyway as they help with insect bites!
Citirazine and Loratadine both one a day non-drowsy and work best when taken ever day.
Chlorphenhydramine (piriton) and acrivastine are quicker acting but can make you drowsy and have to be taken several times a day.

I've been told many times that the UK has one of the worst rates of air born irritants.

While my allergy is similar to Hay fever, it's not caused by the pollen etc, but it's far
worse in the UK than anywhere else in the world I've been.
One Dr once enquired if I'd ever thought of emigrating?! Do you think he was trying
to tell me something?
