I'm seriously thinking about buying a Magnum 40 in Barcelona. I'm not new to boat ownership but new to this size of boat abroad. This is my style of boat and the size I need for occasional weekends living on board as a couple and day boat when the kids are with us. Originally I wanted a Tornado 38 but most/ all of these are in Italy and I need a boat in Barcelona. Its a lovely boat thats been restored, cherished and maintained to a high standard and its for sale via a large reputable broker. Any thoughts apart from don't do it!

100% do it - too much time is spent looking for the "perfect" boat - they are toys, follow your heart. She's a beauty.

Yeah, just do it.

Get it inspected by independent shipwright first though. Worth every penny should any issues arise later.

Wow, that looks fantastic. If you've got the cash, it's in good shape and you know what you are doing - just do it!!

Looks very tidy.

Would love to offer to survey it for you but booked over a month ahead at the moment.

Magnum make a good boat - they are heavy and solid with a wide beam. They have a 'Slim Aarons' cool about them and the colour schemes are normally pretty muted and Mediterranean. They are normally run on shafts (and occasionally Arnesons) - I haven't seen one on jets before and that would be my only real concern. There is an awful lot of crap floating around in the Med...

Looks in great shape both externally and internally.

Engines from 2004 with 280 hours on them, so probably no issues on this side; I would only want to check heat exchangers, as from previous experience with boats with limited hours over a long time, there seem to be a tendency of clogging up on the sea water side. This had happened to me a couple of times on our own boat, as well as a few others I had been working on -however all were Volvo-Penta equipped boats, not sure if it was a matter of specific design though.

Must be great fun with 2x450 Hp engines, (if I had the money and time) I'd go for it smile

That was my concern on the JETS. I'm not sure when they were added but I think fairly recent. Why would an owner do that?

If I recall correctly, Bond was collected by Stromberg's henchwoman from a marina in Sardinia in one of those, then whisked to his submersible lair in The Spy Who Loved Me. As Roger Moore said "a handsome craft".

Thats very interesting Tim .. that was the first James Bond film I went to see, which may explain why I've been drawn to the boat. I've searched out the pics below but couldn't find any good ones of the boat. What a life Roger Moore had!

Decent last pic. Aquarama in the background too, just to the right of Moore's left ear smokin

It reduces your draft considerably, which have been useful for the owners mission profile. Docking with arnesons is a PITA, shafts less so, but theoretically jets should give you more tight handling options.

It seems like a lot of trouble and expense for not much gain

Having no idea what an 'Arneson' was I googled...

Well that seems to be every box ticked; carry on nuts
