Yorkshire police officer baton teenager with excessive force

the actions of this police officer seem to be totally inappropriate use of force

running and battoning a 16 year old lad , if he posed this much of a threat why not use a taser ?

injuries could have been potentially life threatening , i would expect a full internal investigation and appropriate punishment for this officer ,

Cue the usual suspects coming along soon to say we didn't know "what this lad did or said before", and how all football "hooligans" are scum and deserve it etc.

It's hard to see how this situation actually transpired but it certainly looks like an excessive use of force.

Copper probably got wound up by something and just lost it. We are all human, but at the end of the day a professional should know better.

On the face of it it looks bad, but without any additional information of what transpired before it’s not possible to be absolutely sure.

if you see the actual injuries sustained pretty horrific cut about 4" on the IP , not condoning two people fighting , but i think the level of force used by the police officer was excessive , this was not two guys threatening each other with knives

will be interesting to see the police investigation , From the extent of the injuries sustained any good lawyer should be pushing for a charge of GBH against this officer

Not about 'excuses', it's about what is reasonable in the circumstances and can (or cannot) be justified.

Don't forget the step where he'd need to go and get a Taser from the police station between the warning and discharge.

No, because he's dressed in code 2 public order kit so wont have been carrying taser as it's not used in PO.
