325i injector woes
Discussion
Hi all, my missus just bought a 2009 E92 325i from a trader 2 weeks ago and this weekend just gone, the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree throwing EML, ABS error, stability error, no cruise control.
As she only bought the car 2 weeks ago, she went back to the trader who initially pushed to get the car sorted under the useless warranty. After some persuasion he said he would sort it out after diagnosis.
Took it to our BMW specialist and they have recommended that it needs 6 new injectors along with wheel sensor and o2 sensor.
Sent the invoice to the dealer who said it was BS that all 6 injectors need replacing and that his 'guy' who is also a specialist (our garage had never heard of them, not do they have a website) would do the work but only replace one injector as thats the only one throwing up an error code.
We're well aware of BMW injector issues as her previous car was an e82 with the N43 engine. Advice when we had that car was at the very least replace injectors on the same bank, but best course of action is to replace all at the same time.
At this point, we just want a full refund as he is not willing to carry out the work at a proper specialist garage (I suspect his garage is just him or his mate).
Under Consumer Rights Act 2015, are we able to just reject the car outright at this stage as we purchased less than 30 days ago or do we have to wait for him to replace that one injector and then say it's not to our expectations?
Thanks guys.

Yep, reject the car. How much luck you'll have in practice getting a satisfactory resolution to this problem, I couldn't say, but you're within your rights. It's within the first 30 days, and tha car's clearly f
ked. You don't have to accept a repair: just make sure the car is made available for them to collect. Phone the Citizens Advice Bureau for advice, and do a web search to get more info.
I had a similar story with my N53 330i: EML soon after purchase, BMW recomended all injectors replaced (a diagnosis cost me £90-odd - probably worth doing), my usual garage quoted a measurable sum for doing the work, dealer wanted to do it all themselves, I didn't really trust them to do it correctly. So I rejected the car, somewhat unhappily - after all, I didn't buy it because I didn't want it! - and the dealer straight away offered to pay for the repair at my usual garage after all. Cheaper for them than paying full price to buy a knackered car back from me I guess...
I said yes to that, though I had some misgivings, as I was concerned it might end up a continuous money pit. But that was 2 years ago, and it's been fine since.

Thanks To3m. We were a little conflicted originally as we thought if he was willing to fix the car as recommended by our indy, we would have kept the car, but he is not willing to accept their advice and only wants to replace one injector (seeing the invoice, I'm not entirely surprised). Our indy has stated that all injectors are now over fuelling so definitely need replacing but the trader is giving no quarter. As we are at loggerheads, I feel the best course of action now is a full refund. 😔
The search for another car recommences once more.

Just out of interest, whilst i realise that 6 new injectors would be lovely, is the car showing any signs of leaking injectors? Misfire on coldstart, uneven idle etc? Purely ask as the dashboard of doom would have purely been related to the wheel speed sensor, not injector problems, so you can kind of understand why the dealer is being a bit fussy...
I would say give him a chance to sort it.
What you are asking for is for him to replace probably 5 injectors that are fine in case they go at some point in the future. Why should he?
I get that it is annoying, but the reality is it is an 11 year old car.
For all you know, the one injector that has failed may be the only original one in the car anyway.
Let him replace the wheel sensor and the injector that is playing up, reset the adaptations and see how it goes, you may not have another issue with it whilst you own it.
Surely the dealer has a right to sort any issue during the warranty period?
