Disabling Tyre Pressure Monitoring

I want to fit some new winter tyres and rims to our SQ5.
I assume that the TPMS will go into some sort of meltdown, when I drive away, leaving the original tyres at home.
Will the system just flag the warning or is it likely to go into some more drastic state?
Can the TPMS be disabled from the dash?

tpms is done by the abs sensors?

i've got a mk7 golf and the move from 18" standard wheels to 17" winters didn't produce any issues.

If in doubt go into the menu and set the pressures like what you do when you check and inflate the tyres as required.
