That looks so much better. Thank God they listen to the feedback and sorted the front end.
It must have been an awkward subject in the boardroom, because of the sales numbers.
Would you have expected any reference to feedback ?
This is the official reason given, for the reintroduction of the historic slatted grille;

Front is massively better. Shame they didn’t fix the headlights while they were at it. Much better looking now though.
There's some constraints when it comes to re-doing the headlights. The wheel arch sits in quite close proximity to the back of the light cluster. The only way to provide a different headlight design (something akin to the DBS) would be to increase the front overhang, and that compromises the overall look of the car and forces the nose to be quite a bit taller. There's simply not a lot of room behind the headlight and wheel arch liner.The really clever thing about the vaned grille design is that it's integrated into the front end seamlessly, while retaining the existing top line of the bonnet and not adding a chunk of overhang. It ought to be popular, and the price drop on the coupe wont do any harm.

There's another constraint - cost. If you note they've done all the mods in the front nose-cone and grille, keeping tooling and re-testing costs down. If you include the lights then, as well as space (maybe not such an issue with LEDs) you're into front wing metal as well, so that's a nosecone, wings, lights, light mounts, and grille - as well as rehomologation costs. All this on an unbudgeted change when they are short of cash and in the middle of a number of new model launches.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
