Replacing the battery in a Vantage
Discussion
I realize that this topic has been posted on and analyzed at length. However when faced with this task I could not find any documentation that was a true photographic step by step process. So I decided to document each step. (The link has almost 60 photographs)
If interested I have posted it on my website at:

Perfect timing thanks!!
I've just ordered my replacement which will hopefully arrive in time for fitting this weekend.
Amazingly mine is still on the original (2006) battery, and I don't use a trickle charger either, but I do try to drive it every weekend, it hasn't let me down yet but I notice recently it has started to lose the window drop settings during the week and I don't want to push my luck any further!!

Bernard, an absolutely brilliant write up so useful. Being of a similar age I am dreading the job especially as I don’t have a gardener!
A question though - once the new battery was installed did everything work as it should or is a dealer visit required to reset any functions?
Thanks again David.

You are a legend Mr Dembden!! I wandered out to the garage after dinner tonight with a mug of tea in hand and the idea of maybe just pushing the seats forward and removing a couple of bits of trim just some general prep ready for my hopefully soon to arrive battery, I didn't want to get too deep into anything at 8.30pm ..........15 minutes later I was ready for lift-out, all that is left is the terminals to undo and remove which I've left in place to keep things alive until the battery arrives and I'm ready for the swap.
The trim mod was achieved with a snip of some sharp wire cutters on the horizontal followed by a few strokes of a fairly blunt junior hacksaw along the vertical and then a couple of levering motions had the piece cleanly break out in my fingers.
Your cutaway tip makes everything so much easier and should now be officially recognised and named as 'Bernard's Bevel' in AM circles.
I still have to lift the bugger out and also don't have a gardener, but I'll tackle that bit with help from a friend over the weekend.
I've been putting this off for over a year after reading about the frustrations of others when doing the job, now I'm looking forward to the swap over!!
