Looking at replacing the family bus (facelift 1st generation Tiguan 2.0tdi 7 speed DSG) with a current shape Tiguan 1.4tsi. We’re after a 4motion DSG equipped model, the one thing I can’t get to the bottom of is wether this model is a dry clutch DSG or wet clutch?

I was under the understanding the 1.4tsi was a dry clutch but this tends to have a lower torque limit and a higher failure rate but the 4motion is different?

Any other advice on what to check and look for would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

My wifes has been faultless.
Admitidley its coming up to 2 years old, and is on around 18k miles.

Hers is the 1.4, DSG 4 motion, power seems OK, no worse than the 2.0 diesel it replaced. A nice car.

It replaced a MK1 Tiguan, and the new one is so much nicer (as to be expetected).

Her's is oging back to the lease company end of March and is being replaced by another, this time a 1.5 DSG version, so expecting much the same.

Assuming you're buying Used (1.4 is no longer available new) then for reference, the lease compnay have offfered the car to us for £20k, so I would assume they're retailling around £22-23k off a forecourt.
