Key problem solved
Discussion
Relates to my Cayman S 981. A month ago my key went on the blink so started to use the spare. Within a week purchased some decent batteries (not from the pound shop!) did the change but key would not open/close the car. Tried a couple of new batteries but no joy. Searched on here and internet generally and tried all of the suggested ways of getting the key to work, still no joy. Knew that re-programming was next step (car going on sale soon and wanted 2 working keys) tried the AA who advertise a service but, you guessed it, they don't have software for Porsche cars. Phoned OPC (Cardiff) who said both keys would need to be done (?) and cost would be half hours labour for each key, total cost £150+ VAT. Resigned myself to doing that but gave the key one last try - it didn't work. However, after using the same key to start the car it is now fully operational again, opening and closing as normal. If somebody can explain this I would appreciate it but my main reason for posting is to save others some of their hard earned.
