Would it worth it to them as a cheaper/more expensive bespoke badge?

Like everything, price is key. They could buy it as a blocker. BMW own several brands they are unlikely to ever use. I doubt they would entertain building them.

I wondered this, a sort of AMG / Cupra / Bimota, I think there was something in the press to say they weren’t interested, if they were I’m sure it would be name only, can’t see they would want frames / engines.

Do BMW own other bike brands or are you thinking the car marques they got with BL?
I think they have Triumph for instance, although I assume there is are laws preventing them producing motorcycles under that name...

I was hoping enfield would buy them, seems a better fit for the parent company and they have the money to be able to throw into overcoming the current PR nightmare.

Yeah, I was thinking the BL brands. They could create a premium Allegro brand but strangely haven't wink

I fail to see why any of the 2 companies mentioned would buy norton.
Essentially they take on all the flak about bikes not being delivered and ongoing problems.
At the moment they can both hoover up any future sales of the great british bike with their range.

Even if they don't use the Allegro brand for their premium motors, they could surely use the BL beige colour I'd be up for a beige 7 series with a brown vinyl roofbiglaugh

Ah yes, with modern technology the bike would automatically call AA or the RAC when it found itself sitting in a pool of it's own piss !
Again !
Tridents made out of lightweight materials so pushing home would be less of a chore.

He doesn’t need to but maybe he would want to? Presumably he didn’t need to resurrect Triumph and I assume there was some emotion behind the decision, even if he thought he could make money (there might have been quicker and easier options).

Over time the premium Triumphs could be badged as Norton whilst the Triumph brand could be used for the developing market tie ups.

£40k halo bikes? Their most expensive modern classic at the moment is the Thruxton RS from £13k (unless you start going into the custom section of their website!) and people were actually buying the Nortons so there is a bit of demand out there for them.

If someone did buy Norton right now, Triumph or whoever, they sorted out the finances and settled the accounts, kept the factory going etc - would you want to put 40k down on a V4SS from that factory?

I think a Royal Enfield tie up would be more sensible than a Triumph one. Let RE continue to pump out low cost bikes in numbers whilst Norton becomes a halo brand / R&D tool. In this way there is clear water between the two. When BL back in the 70’s had the various brands competing against one another it all went spectacularly wrong as there was too much internal wrangling.

A halo “Norton” Interceptor anyone?

I assume that if Triumph bought Norton they wouldn’t just carry on as normal but would sort the production and quality issues.

I can't see why Triumph would take Norton on, unless they've got oodles of spare cash to invest. Nothing against Nortons, very pretty looking bikes but a bit spendy. I don't think Triumph are the poorer relation of Norton in terms of how the brand is perceived either.

I don't think there is much model overlap, people who want a Norton will buy one (assuming they sort out their current issues) and people who want a Triumph will buy a Triumph.
