Advice wanted - Wifes Car

Its that time again.. and I am genuinely struggling..
5 years ago or so we had the same question, the kids were 6 and 2 then and the wife wanted what her best friend had.. Sounds simple right.. well sadly as my wife is Japanese, the car is question was a JDM model of which there were none in the UK.. A Toyota Porte was however acquired, shipped and registered and she has been plodding around in it since. Well actually as I used to live in Japan and also used to own an export company in Japan, that was actually not that difficult and in fairness the Porte has been a fantastic little car for her, being a Yaris underneath its pretty bulletproof and the space has been great for the kids despite looking pretty gruesome.. Anyway, the trusty Porte now has around 70,000 miles on it and its time for a change.
So this conversation went along the lines of - whats next honey, what would you like. I would like a sports car, maybe a TVR or Lotus (great Im thinking) and really I want a convertible. But I do tend to eat in the car so it needs to be auto (not so good as that actually rules out both of those models in their entirety).. It turns out that despite having 2 kids she is happy with a 2 seater (never question a womans judgement) as our eldest now cycles to school... And she does like sports cars.. (thats how we met I guess and glad it survived). In the back of my mind Im thinking a 2+2 convertible would be perfect.. So I start thinking along these lines:
6 series cab - hat one, never again
M3 Cab
911 cab
E class Cab
then I found that there is a paddle shift Evora and Elise albeit seems to be pretty rare.. The wife it seems hates all German cars, they are either too masculine or too chavvy... so we are kind of back to square one. The 911 is a possibility but looking around for a PDK in blue (oh did I mention that, if its a 911 apparently it has to be blue) with sensible miles in convertible format it is going to be 50k + and I know in 3 years time when we come to sell it we will be lookin at 20k.. so it seems like a lot of cash burn.. So I am looking more at the Lotus paddle shift and there is a 2+2 format but no convertible / removable room..
What have I missed!!?
