Child seat - non-isofix Vantage (2007)

Hi all,

Has anyone managed to find a seat which fits well in the Vantage? My son is nearly big enough to move away from his baby seat (9 months / 9kg), which means I can get a forward facing seat.

My car doesn't have ISOFIX or the airbag switch, so it'd have to be front facing. Brittax seats seem to be good start, but they're quite big, so worried that they won't fit (and I'm not sure how easy it will be to try a number of seats without buying/returning them).

Does anyone have any recommendations for this age group?

If you go to halfords they will let you test fit as many as you want.

I went through this process with my Vantage, they were really helpful.

I used a britax romer eclipse in mine. It fit very well.

I got these for my R8 & A5, had them in my Smart, and wife's Evoque too, got 4 at the moment in total
They work with & without ISOFIX
They are compact and fit in smaller seats and give the child good legroom
They have an excellent safety / crash rating from Which and are good up to 12 years old
Not tried it in a V8V but they are compact and a quality item

Brilliant- thanks for the recommendations guys. Good shout on Halfords, but a lot of their stock is online only unfortunately.

Mothercare used to be great for this, 30+ car seats in stock on the shelves and the staff were happy for you to keep carrying them out to the car until you found one that fit. The Toys'R'Us baby department was great too, the one near us had a huge wall display full of car seats. Sadly now Halfords is your only option - they are just has helpful but as you say a lot of their stock isn't in store. And that's just until they go under as well

Would this seat fit in the back of a BD9?

Does anyone know of any child seat that fits in the back of a DB9

Sorry to resurrect/hijack an old thread, I'm looking at the Cybex Pallas for my S211 E-Class (non isofix). If I'm travelling without my son, but with the car seat, am I right in assuming you have to belt the seat in to stop it rolling around in the back? And if yes, does it get annoying to have to keep doing that?

Sorry to resurrect/hijack an old thread, I'm looking at the Cybex Pallas for my S211 E-Class (non isofix). If I'm travelling without my son, but with the car seat, am I right in assuming you have to belt the seat in to stop it rolling around in the back? And if yes, does it get annoying to have to keep doing that?

If the car doesn’t have isofix the belt holds the seat in
I’ve not used it without isofix but presumably you’d only have to secure the seat once and then it’s good until you next have the kid in the car. Can’t see it being an issue unless you’re always taking passengers and even then with isofix you’d need take it in and out too? It’s not held in place laterally as securely with the belt. The one I linked does fold flat easily and fit in the boot / comes apart into 2 parts easily if that helps to go in the boot.

Can the metal ISOFIX attachments be removed or retracted ?
I would not want those anywhere near my Bridge of Wier leather in the Vantage.


I use a Britax Roma Duo in the back of a Mercedes-Benz coupe, secured by the seat belt, which feeds through a location clamp.
Hardly any child seat movement when the seat belt is tight and the clamp locked.
The metal prongs can be retracted and placing the seat on a thick bath mat elimates all risk of damage.



I have never even thought about placing it on the Vantage passenger seat.

The child seat legal rules are now quite complicated, so I had just assumed (perhaps wrongly) that toddlers cannot travel in 2 seater sports cars. However, I do know someone who would like me to be wrong about that, and have his first ride in the 'vroom vroom car'.

The metal pieces can be flipped over & retracted completely inside the base of the seat so they do not stick out at all
You would still be advised to use a protective pad under the seat to protect it
The Cybex one is ike the exact opposite of the Britax Romer it is much smaller, easier to install and remove, had a Romer before and hated it
The romer is held much more securely by the car's seat belt but that only works up to stage 1 when the child still uses the harness built into the seat
I have one permanently in my R8, little Maxy loves it for going to nursery
