Hello chaps,

So I was wondering about just completely removing the META alarm from my Griff 500 since I only have one fob (whose operation is touchy as it is) and obtaining a second one hasn’t been made easy and as an aside, here in the US, car theft isn’t as rife as it is in the UK. Obviously the META system works the door locks and boot release so it would be nice if those things can be left functional, but if not, I can live without that...anyone have any advice on going this route? At least as far as removing the META from the engine ignition circuit?

I am also interested. I don’t use the alarm system at all, I would be happy to get rid of the immo as well.

If it is just the fob you require then you could try this firm. I have used them in the past and they proved helpful.

Thanks, I’ve sent them an email this morning to get their advice. I’d be thrilled to dump the immobilizer completely. Just like on the Ferraris of the same era, these systems aren’t worth the trouble. Someone wants the car badly enough, they’ll figure out a way around it anyways!

Contact PH member ChimpOnGas ( CoG) as he has detailed instructions on how to remove the immobiliser that he will pass on to bonafide owners.

Dumped my Meta altogether and had a Autowatch 457RLi/T fitted. Turned out that both immobiliser circuits had been bypassed in the dim and distant past. Now have a properly modern system with remote boot release and headlight control, and an interior sensor that actually works.

I’ve had this done too and gone over to an Autowatch unit. Electrics are not my bag, but it’s not a complicated system, so any local auto electrician will be able to sort it. There’s really no need to involve a Meta specialist.

Remove the Meta and wire in a decent remote central locking system

If your reasonable with car wiring most run of the mill alarms are easy to remove if you take your time.
They all follow the same basic principle.
