Has anyone done this?

I've got an old Raspberry Pi 2, and a 32 inch TV that are no longer being used, so thought i would look into making a magic mirror as a fun little project. I've now decided against this and thought i could just make a digital dashboard (basically a magic mirror without the mirror) which would hopefully cost me no extra money.

I know there are lots of options and modules that people use for all types of functionality, I'm just thinking of something that could look nice on the wall and would include time, weather, calendar, to do list, maybe a photo slideshow, etc, etc. Maybe even attach a spare echo dot, for mic, speaker and Alexa integration.

I know i could just install the standard magic mirror software, but i think that is just black with white text. I was thinking of something a bit more aesthetically pleasing.

I guess i'm just thinking out loud, and wondered if anyone on here has done this, and what functions, features they have set up and how they did it?

Maybe I'm missing the obvious here, but aren't you asking for a wall mounted monitor?

I can just mount the TV on the wall but my question is more about the software people have used and functions they have set up. The magic mirror software is great and has lots of options, but i believe it would just be white text on a black background as it was designed to sit behind a mirror, which i don't think would look great on it's own.

Just looking for ideas of what other people may have done.
