Finally getting it back on the road
Discussion
Been a few years since my old girl was driving... cooked the engine and its been laid up in the garage for 6 or so years, but I'm getting it ready for Le Mans Classic... albeit with a replacement engine But 5 speed box as well...
got this low mileage V12

Gave it a thorough cleaning, by hand and some careful jet washing

liberal application of Mer and elbow grease

and some liberal amount of paint, just on the inside of the Vee though...
will tackle the rockers soon and start the change over... Will keep you guys updated

Hi, the xj12 in your profile looks good. Have you done more than added a manual 'box?
Thanks Duke for commenting, the car has had load of work in its life time, I had the body work totally restored about 12 years ago which I will elaborate on more once she is up and running. I've got to try and figure out how I get the old lump out so that I can start to transfer over the components/ancillaries ready for WSM to fit it in with the new box...best start reading the Haynes manual and calling in some favours, the one and only engine I have removed was from an RD50 and it was never the same since...
This is how I left them both last night, give them some time to get acquainted...

Still admiring the project and car. What do you mean by "swapping over components"? Are you going to remove the auxiliaries, put them to one side, put in new bare engine, refit auxiliaries?
Thanks Duke, Yes I have to fit the intakes, fuel injection, alternator, starter motor, water pump, air con, etc etc etc.... I am aiming to get the old engine out, remove, clean up refurbish the ancillaries and make pretty those bits being swapped over, the alternator being the only original (from 1985) bolt on item ….
