ZOTAC GTX 1080ti , anyone have one?
Discussion
And if you do..what case did you find that it fits into?
I am struggling to get reliable info as most 1080ti cards are not as big as this beast , it is 325mm long!
I have 3 midi cases and i can fit it in one of them if i remove one of the CPU cooling fans (watercooled) But that leaves the GPU with barely any room around its fans.
The beast!

I have been looking at many cases but they don't give much info about internal dimensions!

I have this case -

It should fit in here. Offers 412mm max card length.

It looks like this one from the same website will also work and it is a quarter of the price so I now have some options!

Now i just have to figure out if it is all worth the bother as I am now reading that moving my dell internals to a 'generic' case might not be as straightforward as i had hoped.
Cheers for the link

As above look at the fractal design cases
I've got a define R4 - unless you really need 8 hdd's, the upper hdd cage can be removed to allow extra long gpu's, and you still have 2x 5.25 bays for cd rom drives. The spec quotes cards up to 430mm in length.
Also got an R6 with similar modular customisation and 1x 5.25in bay.
I've chosen them for their silence.

Ooh, they look good too.
Thanks guys. i am trying to decide what i want to do now as I am reading that transferring all the innards from a Dell to a 'generic' case can be a pain. And i have just bought the 'new to me' dell to go with the also new to me 1080ti but the dell has a 6GB 1060 GPU in it already which pretty much does what i need a GPU to do so i may just make my life easy and put the 1080ti (back) on ebay!
Now that i have run some tests on the machine I just dont think the improvement i would get from the 1080 is worth the trouble and expense and it cost nearly as much as this entire PC.

you'll probably find all the cables are too short which will definitely be a pain when you then discover they're attached to your power supply.Shuvi McTupya said:

agreed, unless you're seriously into your gaming or running something like boinc then a 1060 is plenty powerful enough.Pachydermus said:

I had a 1080 Amp Extreme- so same cooler design and IIRC same size.Fitted fine in most mid-tower cases as long as any 3.5" drive bays were removed.
Ran for a couple years in a Corsair C70 (which I still have in the loft) which also had 5.25" drive bays, there was loads of room in that.
Favourite cases on the market at the moment are the Lian Li O11 Dynamic (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lian-Li-pc-o11dx-Black-Case/dp/B07C88X1VV/) and Dynamic XL. Both have masses of forward space (the XL which I have has somewhere in the order of 500mm), but the standard Dynamic is a bit hamstrung on width which means you can't run most GPU water blocks. £115 for the standard Dynamic, two panels of tempered glass, probably the best PSU location I've ever seen for ease of cable running- real showpiece systems are super easy in them.

Whatever you do, I'd suggest buying a GPU support bracket. My Amp Extreme actually warped my old case slightly such was its weight.

The ZOTAC GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme. - https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zot...
It's 325mm long, an Nvidia 2080ti FE is 266.74mm, even the long ASUS ROG Strix 2080ti triple fan is only 304.7mm.
I have a Mid tower case and I just measured 325mm and it will only just fit if I take the fan off the front (1 inside front intake fan).
As an alternative the Corsair Carbide 275R says it can handle up to 370mm graphics card - https://www.legitreviews.com/corsair-carbide-275r-...

I tried the Asus Rog Strix so a 325mm gfx card probably won't fit the case without modding it. It's 325mm long, an Nvidia 2080ti FE is 266.74mm, even the long ASUS ROG Strix 2080ti triple fan is only 304.7mm.
