Living in Snowdonia is great. Well, it was until the police and NRW got in touch last night and suggested we evacuate our home due to the possibility of a landslide wiping it out!
Apparently there are severe ground cracks after Ciara last week and the ground is severely unstable and we are on the 'flight path', albeit on the very perimeter of their worst case scenario modelling.
The rain has just started and is set in for several days.
My wife is petrified and my kids are excited about staying in an hotel.
People above us are staying put apparently! Madness in my opinion but their choice.
Fingers crossed and everything else!

The house has stood since the late 17th century and has only been flooded once in that time so the odds are in our favour.
I've just walked the forest tracks above us with a neighbour and there has been some serious landslides as a result of Ciara last weekend. However, the water has cut ravines down to the rock head and it appears that what could move did its moving last week. Behind us is is at least 200m of deciduous forest at various grades including level areas with positive streams already cut on natural gravity routes. It is absolutely cats and dogs so we're sitting tight until later this afternoon. Truck packed for the off!
The wind is getting quite rough down here, we are half a mile from the coast in a cornwall, between Polzeath and Port Isaac.
The rain was very heavy 3 nights ago, i was at work and never seen hail like it, down to 20mph due to visibility.
I’m working later (hgv driver) and will be off to Barnstable. It usually gets really bad around Hartland and Clovelly, so looking forward to a potentially interesting night!
The wind was pushing against the trailer pretty strongly the other night when crossing the Torridge bridge, apparently it could be worse for Dennis

Whereabouts are you Stussy? I grew up in St Kew.... The rain was very heavy 3 nights ago, i was at work and never seen hail like it, down to 20mph due to visibility.

Take care on the roads tonight - some of the roads up there are pretty exposed.

We live just outside St Minver, I’m currently about 5 mins from St Kew collecting milk from farms. Take care on the roads tonight - some of the roads up there are pretty exposed.
Off to St Mabyn next then back to the dairy at Davidstow to unload. Then up to Barnstaple area.
It’s currently very windy but only light rain, there’s a lot of sitting water already though
The rain seems to be stopping and starting in showers, and the wind is strong but nothing major apart from the odd big gust. It doesn’t seem as big a storm as Ciara was. I’m off up to the South Moulton area soon, so will see what that’s like. Looking at local news there’s been a lot of flooding and trees down
We're down in SW Ireland and had to make a trip to Killarney today . The main road was washed away by Ciarra last week so a long winding detour was required across and through the Kerry Mountains .
It was a very unpleasant experience with considerable very heavy rainfall resulting in flooding and running water ,the winds were exceptional with branches ( but no trees ) being blown everywhere .
We're home again but the wind is severe outside again with continuous driving rain making it a very uncomfortable night .
What we get you get later so take care and keep safe over there .
