Further to recent threads on the new Vantage Roadster, I’m just interested in surveying initial reaction to the new Vantage grille - vote for your preference thumbup

Oh dear, that's ugly with both , perhaps it's just the pictures. I think i prefer the classic but that picture is just awful.

I guess the truth will be in the sales ...be interesting to see in 12 months time in the used market, which grille appears more popular with new buyers

Here is another angle of the new grille, ultimately we all need to see it in the wild...

I like it, if I was getting a new V8 that would be my choice.....still think my next one will be a used V12 Roadster though smile

I agree. Its a good thing, and a good acknowledgment from Aston to make this change. Just need to sort out the beedy eyes headlights smile

Can we have the classic grill in the poll or is that a foregone conclusion ?!

I've held off from commenting on this subject as I don't wish to be negative.
The aesthetics of the new Vantage aren't that bad but it's not groundbreaking.
It's always difficult to invent a new mousetrap when the previous Vantage ticked all the boxes.
Both grills will have their fans, it's very subjective.
However, let's face it, the front is just not quite right.
It's not just the grills it's the slitty lights and the bonnet shut line and the large expanse of featureless bonnet.
I don't think the small bonnet vents bring much to the party.
I went to see the Bond DB10 Vantage at Grange and I didn't like the look of that either,It was imo bland.
Having said all that I hope that Aston will sell loads of them.

How are you Mark smile and how are you feeling about the Roadster compared to the Coupe, now you have owned it for a good while?

Better not go there as we know what the overall result would probably be, but to be fair to Aston they had a tough job trying to replace and modernise what is one of the most beautiful car designs out there and I think having a classic style grille option is a no brainer wink

Like the new roadster grille look! Slats help as well.

In fact, that new roadster (won’t AM call it a Volante?) is great looking on the outside IMHO.

I think I am correct to say, that Volante has always been the name used for the GT models, and Roadster for the more recent sports cars.

Can someone explain to me how I use Thumbsnap or anything else to post pictures on here?

Then I can show you my 15 minute redesign of the current Vantage.

Meanwhile I can explain the principles. The tail is way too low, it resembles a Marcos Mantula. There are too many gratuitous swage lines all over the body, but particularly on the bonnet, where they, and the bulge, and the wky little airslots, are unconvincing, and invisible from the driving seat. There has always been a Tesla-like horizontal line across the front just below the headlights, onto which they can, and have, stuck anything they like, from the Bond DB8 on. None of it really works and they need to ditch the shark aesthetic and go with the natural lines of the car.

Correct. The term ‘Volante’ was only started with the DB6, then used for the post David Brown V8, Virage, DB7, DB9 the 2008 and 2018 DBS and DB11.

The name was first used prior to the DB6 with the DB5 convertible simply named the "Volante". Note the shape of the boot lid in comparison to the DB6 Volante.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're both DB6s (Early one in silver & Mk 2 in blue).
The DB5 had round taillights.

I like it. It’s much cleaner, elegant looking. A carbon fiber/mesh version like the V12 would fit nice as well.

The hood vents are set too far to the edge of the hood, should be set in more, similar to the old V8.
