Batten down the hatches
Discussion
I think that most people and governments are potentially underestimating the damage that the Coronavirus could cause to the global economy and hence our local economies. China accounts for a large part of global growth and indirectly is essential for much of the rest as they supply so many parts in the global supply chain. I think the s

It’s going to be interesting how this affects businesses throughout the supply chain.
I have no dealings with China but 3 of my 5 biggest clients all have their products either manufactured there, or buy raw materials from there. They all have enough in stock to weather the current shut down but if it goes on much longer, they will suffer hugely. That pain then gets passed back to suppliers like us who are not needed as much.
I think it’ll be this ripple effect that hits UK SMES the hardest and will result in a lot of casualties that have never even had direct trade with China.

Any JIT business with direct or indirect supply chains from China must be feeling it already. Even the Chinese New Year needs careful planning and that's only a couple of weeks.

Bear with me on this. Mortality rate is estimated to be 5%. It might be cheaper, just saying, though not pollitically expedient to let it run it's course. Then we'll all be immune from bat-flu and some lessons will be learned.
Yeah, I mean who is going to miss 60 million or so Chinese people.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
