Long Time Lurker Posting;

Morning all;

I purchased a 2016 340i touring two weeks ago from a BMW Dealer.

Car is fantastic and i cant fault it, but it's developed an issue with the parking sensors, and wondered if anyone else has any info or experience with this issue.

When the car is placed into reverse it throws an error onto the main screen (below), this completely disables the front and rear sensors. I’ve tried turning the car off and back on and seeing if its some kind of sensor hiccup, but even when the car re-starts and is placed back into reverse it refuses to come back on.

This doesn’t happen all the time, but has happened three times since i purchased the car.

No error code on the iDrive system.

I’ve got the other half taking the car back to the main dealer this Monday to explain the issue, but wondered if anyone’s had this before?

If it is, it's a pretty poor design where one faulty sensor disables the whole system.

Make sure there isn’t a tiny bit of crud on the sensor.

Mine do it when it’s getting washed.
