Hello all,

What is the exact mean on a life insurance application when it says ‘have you ever life insurance refused’?

If you applied to a new Life insurance company and they declined but then got excepted by another company immediately afterwards does this mean you would have to tick this box every time you made subsequent life insurance application?

Or is the meaning when you came to renewal with an existing policy it was refused or you tried to claim and was refused?

Advice or help would be great.

I would ask the company you are applying too, to explain what they mean.

I didn't think life insurance policies had a renewal. You either die during the term of the policy, or you don't.

If you've tried to claim on your life insurance, and your claim was refused, the fact that you're still here and applying for new life insurance, then I would respectfully suggest they were right to turn down your claim. hehe

Accepted?

Why do you keep having to apply?

If you apply to a company and they decline you and you then apply to another company and they ask if you've ever been declined cover, you have to answer yes.....

Yes, exactly as Sarnie says. The most important part of life cover applications is the disclosure.

Let me know if you want any help from our guys?

Sorry in a hastily written question I have wrongly mixed things up.

I had a specific income protection scheme which the provider are now no longer providing so I am now trying to find a similar cover. One application form I have for income protection asks if you ever had Life Insurance refused hence my original question.

I have since spoken to my original insurance broker who applied to the Life insurance provider. They said a full application wasn’t made and that the original Life insurance package they wanted for me at first would never have been suitable so I wasn’t actually refused Life insurance, which is a relief for me.

When I was searching the internet the closest answer I could come up with was related to car insurance hence why I muddled myself with mentioning ‘renewal’ of life insurance.

Saying that I have changed Life insurances before to increase the level of cover, not something I want to keep repeating.

No worries, I think we got your point. Just ensure you very carefully disclose every answer to the medical questions as so many people don’t, and it’s always too late when a claim is made.
