Recruitment agencies AAAAARGHHHH
Discussion
Just venting here!
Why do they need to f
king call you about everything! And what the f
k do they mean "feedback" on my CV. Just send it to the people you are f
king recruiting for and let me know BY EMAIL if and when they want to interview me. And if one more person "reaches out" or "touches base" I'm gonna lose my s
t completely!!!

Once you get with a decent one they might change your opinion.
Usually initially you are dealing with some office junior who is talking from a crib sheet, then they will hand you over (invariably not as they will say no) to the account manager..
But initial contact can be very painful, tiring and rather poor yes.

The engineering niche I work In is particularly bad for it. I'm sure none of them followed any GDPR rules because they all seem to have my details from years ago and think it's okay to constantly ring me up.
There is one particular London based agency that love to leave voicemails about work In Italy which I have never been interested in, I could almost recite their script off by heart. Despite my best efforts they won't take my details off their database.
Properly annoying.

Ha yes yes yes so annoying.
Worst is when they leave a voicemail or send an email saying I have seen your CV online and would like to discuss an opportunity.
Then you call them and first thing they say is 'can we discuss your previous career history'....'YOU HAVE MY CV YOU STUPID HUNT SO WHY DO I NEED TO DISCUSS IT WITH YOU'

Rules for recruiters:
1: Always phone during office hours (clue, my CV tells you I have a full time job, yeah)
2: Voicemails must only consist of "This is Nathan from Recruit-o-matic, can you ring me back". No more detail than that, certainly don't give the slightest hint of urgency.
3: Never, ever, be available at lunchtime, or after 4pm. Ever. Remember you only want to be contacted by currently unemployed candidates.
4: Email should only ever be used for receiving CVs from candidates. It must absolutely not be used as a communications medium.
5: Text messages, see 4
6: LinkedIn messages should only ever be a gateway to email. See 4.

This thread touched a nerve with me!
I work as a consultant and get 90% of my work through a nationwide consultancy firm. They pitch for jobs then send me and others in to do the work.
But, I do have my CV registered with 3 different specialist recruiters who only deal with the property/housing sector, for those odd times when my main source if work doesn’t have anything available.
2 of the recruiters are great. They understand my position and know that I will get in touch when I know my current project is coming to an end.
The 3rd one however... FFS. He is a monumental pain in the arse.
I have told him several times that I am busy for the next 6 months, full up, can’t take on any more work. Please don't call me, I’ll call you etc.
Yet he still rings me constantly with s
t that I have no interest in, and couldn’t take on anyway.
When he rings me it’s like he wasn’t paying attention or even listening the last 5 times we spoke. Asks the same questions, asks me to go through my CV with him, all whilst seemingly ignoring my repeated pleas to not contact me again for at least 6 months.
Problem is I can’t tell him to properly get stuffed as he works for one of the really big specialist recruiters and they do get a lot of work come their way.
Really annoying.

This properly boils my piss.
I keep getting calls, Linkedin messages, and emails about jobs that are nothing like my background, in industries I've never worked in, nor had an interest in.
I actually rang one, and asked "have you read my CV? as I haven't worked in customer service is over 8 years" They said and I quote "It could be a great move for your career". "from a managerial IT position, to a minimum wage, part time job?"
I hung up at that point.
