The cop car thread in GG reminded me of this spendid old TV show. After a little bit of Googling I found a fan site which said that there is talk of a re-make...with Steve Coogan and Ben Stiller :yikes: This is so wrong :nono:

My choices would be Jude Law or Paul Bettany as Brett Sinclair, but I cannot think who would play Danny Wilde? :confused:

Roger Moore and Tony Curtis were perfectly cast for their roles at the time, can't see the point of remakes anyway, they are nearly always inferior to the original versions.....

What happened to originality???

can't think of any recent remake that's 'better' than the original.......hope the 'War of the Worlds' film will buck this trend tho'

Precisely - if you're going to do a 'remake' - pick up the idea and run with it!

Actually, I liked The Saint film - they took a slightly vacuous series and gave the whole thing some mystery and depth, good work. The only real link to the original was the theme tune and the fact the main character was driving a Volvo.

As a result, if they're doing a remake of The Persuaders - develop the concept a bit! Make it more engaging on an adult level. I think, now Bond's gone the way of all blockbusters and turned into an implausible computer game with too many explosions for its own good, there's space in the market for a cool, sensible, sophisticated man-of-mystery spy thriller.

And what are they going to drive? Somehow I can't see an F430 having the same gravitas as the Dino somehow, and every 'suave secret agent' gets a DB9 as a matter of course these days.

Or will they do what they did with Starsky & Hutch, and set it in period.

IF they were to remake The Persuaders, which I agree is a stupid idea, then they'd have to use A-list stars, as Moore and Curtiss were at that time. So I'd suggest George Clooney as Danny and Hugh Grant as Brett.

Yes! Liotta is the man. Clooney is a dwarf, whereas Grant is quite tall.
