Just in the market for a laptop, as I'm leaving employer which currently supplies one. I've been looking at the Surface 2, as I like the design, spec and the fact that the screen is removable, should I want to use it as a tablet. Although I use Apple stuff at home (iMac), I'm leaning towards a Windows based system for work and business.

Anyone have experience of these, any good ? The reviews I have read seem to rate them.

Any similar recommendations ?

They are a little cumbersome and older tech now - a few gens back for the processor as an example.

I suspect the new model will come out this year. Although I couldn't wait so went for the Surface Laptop 3 - only the i5/256gb model but it's fab for day-to-day driving. Incredible keyboard and mouse (coming from a holy grail Macbook Pro 2015!!).

Thanks guys, I will look at the Surface 3. Having had another look at the S2, I do wonder if I'd ever use a tablet that's that big ! Hence I'm paying for complication I may not use, so good points.

Absolutely love mine, keyboard is great.

I've popped the screen off ... once. To see how it worked. I thought I'd use it all the time, but a massive Windows tablet is no iPad!

I had an original surfacebook. Beautifully made, and it was great to use Windows in the way that Microsoft intended, everything worked great. Keyboard was excellent, as everyone says.

Got rid because I had the i5/8Gb model and it was starting to show its age pretty quickly.

The current surfacebooks are getting on a bit. Lovely, but not the thing to buy at the moment.
