I've done my homework, understand a lot of foibles of the Tesla, but I have a couple of specific questions that I would appreciate some opinions on please - put yourself in my shoes if you like.

I'm test driving a Tesla today. A chap in work is selling it. 1st of all, it's just under a year old, blue paint upgrade and alloys upgrade, so £2.5k worth of options. Only 7k miles on it so I guess the 1st question is what's a fair price for it?

2nd question. We're in N Ireland. No Tesla centres over here. What happens if something goes wrong? Do I need to bring it to Edinburgh or Dublin for example or do the mobile units Tesla have cover off this issue for people like me? Or if I get straight to the point - if you were in a geographical location like me, would you buy a Tesla?

Anything I need to check out on a test drive?

Thanks.

It seems like there's almost no superchargers either, just a couple of 50kw.
I don't think I would do it at this time.

Why is he selling?

Belfast service centre is "coming soon" on the Tesla map, but it's been like that for 6+ months. At least there's some jobs advertised for it now so can't be too far off:

https://tesla-info.com/ compiles cars for sale to compare. Lack of local service today could be a good bargaining point though.

They get 4 years breakdown cover, which includes "Transportation services of up to 500 miles to the nearest Service Center" so worst case if it broke down they'd have to take it to Dublin or Edinburgh.

Do you know if that 4 year breakdown is transferable?

It is, you have to notify Tesla about the change of ownership but the remaining time all transfers to the new owner.

What is your mileage/usage profile?
Can you charge at home?

I'd guess you're unlikely to pay much less than the price of a brand new car in white with standard wheels. Very few on the second hand market yet and lots of people still waiting for cars.

About 15k. Yeah, can charge at home and lots of 50kwh CCS chargers on typical commute, plus one 2 miles from home - all free in NI smile

Why’s your mate selling? What is it that doesn’t work for him?
