987.2 Cayman Audio System Issues
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I just bought a year 2010 987.2 Cayman and it is my first Porsche.
It is equipped with Sound Package Plus (2 speakers on each door, totally 9)
I found there are some audio system issues:
a. The low range 8 inch speaker on the driver side door makes kind of loud buzz/ rattle noise all the time;
b. No sound comes out of rear speaker all the time (I tried to play different songs).
For the three speakers on the dash, it's difficult for me to tell if they are working or not. I tried to change the balance setting but it seems only two choice - left and right.
I searched a lot on the internet and found there are maybe two possible causes:
a. ASK amplifier is wrong;
b. Speaker is wrong.
Working on the interior parts is a headache to me.
I just want to make sure what is the problem first, then prepare the parts and fix it once.
Can you plesase advise?
Thank a lot!

ASK amp is VERY flakey. Mine just went silent eventually after some on/off shenanigans as loud noises on start up. If I was a betting man I would start here
Bloke in Norway who fixes them and a place in Woking. Took mine out dropped it off and refitted it. Not super hard but a bit tight under the seat.
Cost about £100

Yesterday I removal the door panel and found it’s the speaker itself is broken... And I surprisingly found that although there are two grills on door panel, there is only one speaker inside (8 inch). So I guess my car only has two speakers. That why the “rear speakers” make no sound.
Have ordered the speaker and will replace it when arrival
