My wife (not me) put petrol in our diesel RAV4. Drove a short way before realising the problem. Got it drained and replaced with diesel. For last few months it’s not been running great. Trouble starting the engine and low on power. Some lights come on the dash too. Reading some forums it seems the injectors need replacing but they’re really expensive. Anyone know of someone who can recondition these instead? We’re trying to keep the car on the road for as low a cost as possible. Thanks for any help.

Experiment with tcw3 at about 100ml per 40 litres.
At this point reconning the injectors will highlights the damage done to the pump.

Look for a parts car on copart

What year is it? Lots of the 06-on 1AD engines injectors fail without misfuelling.

Chances are it's damaged the high pressure pump too, and maybe the DPF will start to give trouble too

You're making the assumption any perceived problem is the injectors.

And when it comes to injectors...cheap is rarely a good option. Some are more trouble than they're worth !

IMO always buy known trusted parts from a reputable supplier with a proper warranty. And that's harder to do than you think ( unless actually buying new OEM parts from the dealer )

It’s 2008. Is it worth getting replacement parts from a breakers then?
