‘Attempted delivery’ with eBay?!

So apparently ‘attempted delivery’ now means delivered according to eBay?
Only a £22 item. I missed the delivery, hands up I was out, postie didn’t leave a card. Tracking still says ‘out for delivery’ some 4 weeks after it was attempted.
Tried the local office, they can’t find it. Tried customer service who says it will be at the local office.
Gave up with seller and raised an eBay case. They have just founded with the seller stating that attempting a delivery essentially proves it was delivered and as such I’m down £22 and don’t have what I ordered.
Lovely service eBay. Guess I’ll be sticking with amazon from now on.

And to make it worse the seller may even be a maximum of £23 better off that's assuming they just used a standard service that generates a tracking number.
Why ?
Well the seller can open up a n undelivered item case with Royal Mail..
They can use your insistence that the item wasnt delivered to bolster this case against Royal Mail.
As regards e bay it can be a lottery who looks at your case and decides so you should take it further and as suggested take it up with paypal
And to make it worse the seller may even be a maximum of £23 better off that's assuming they just used a standard service that generates a tracking number.

you can get ebay to reopen cases as it depends on which term you used to open the case.
I had it with a 25 quid locking nut, was sent an empty envelope. They closed the case first time, i got it reopened. I would get an action fraud opened, yes i know it stupid but ebay respect it, i had to.

Depends on who the courier firm is that the seller is using. Had issues with Hermes where the courier obviously enjoyed my trousers I had ordered, not even carded, when I went to the depot, no help. In the end, as trousers were small cost, had to let it go...
Always pay with PayPal, and a credit card so you can claim it off the credit card issuer. If it's something big, get it shipped through Click and Collect for added security.

Are you sure it was Royal Mail? If it was a Royal Mail Tracked item, their tracking system is pretty reliable and you should be able to get proof from Royal Mail that it wasn't delivered to you.
Here’s a screen grab, RM say they can’t find it. eBay decides because it was attempted I lose my £20. Seller has probably made a claim against RM by now and got the money back too.

Amazon leave parcels on our doorstep or behind a bin, in full view of passers by. The state of delivery companies that deem this acceptable.Only a £22 item. k off and raise a claim.with China Post. I eventually got a refund from RM after giving them a very hard time. But they really don't give a tossA500leroy said:

Thanks. The village is medium sized, having grown massively recently from a small one. The old post master is a lovely old bloke and so is my postie. The localised problem here is that the PO is wayyyy too small for the village and so their store room is full of parcels and there’s a large pile regularly behind the tills. Not surprised stuff goes missing
