As I understand it, if I change the battery on my V8 Vantage I will lose the seat memories, window drop and power fold mirrors.

Thinking of ways to avoid this, especially the latter, does anyone know if this would be possible by connecting a slave battery under the bonnet to the jump lead positions or does this simply enable the start circuits? Clearly disconnecting the red battery terminal could be an interesting experience if still live but doable with care, I would have thought!

Comments would be appreciated, thanks, David.

Possible I guess. I just changed the battery on my roadster. I left my ctek charger plugged into the boot charge socket during the whole procedure, watched the stereo when I disconnected the battery and the car never noticed.

Must say after all the reading up on how tricky the battery change was, it was a 45 min job ...access easier with the roof down of course. Most fiddly part was getting the battery strap back on.

Many thanks for the response, as mine is on a trickle charger when not in use, seems to be the way to go!

yes, I left the CTEK plugged into the mains and in the boot charge socket whilst I changed the battery.....the boot charge socket isnt rated very high, so you couldn't start the car off it but it was certainly enough to keep it alive whilst I swapped the new battery in...only a minute or two I guess before I had the new one connected up. I then left the new battery charging up for a few hours before I went out in the car the following day.
