Garage Band update not working.

Hi, I have GB 10.1.0 that I'd like to update to the latest, but the App Store just gives an endless spinning wheel. My BMP is early 2011, with El Capitan running well with an ssd installed. I seem to remember it had a logic board replaced before I got it from a family member, it may be a serial number issue. Trying in Safe Mode did not help. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

10.1.6 is commented as the latest version that you can run on El Capitan; Garage Band 10.3.4 needs High Sierra (I think from a quick google)

Ok, thanks for the reply. I wonder if 10.1.6 is worth looking for? Probably not, though I'd quite like more orchestral sounds, voices and acoustic drums. I should do more with what I actually have available!
