MK5 GTI needing a refresh
Discussion
I’ve a 2008 GTI with only 40k on the clock but which has cosmetically seen better days (moss around the windows, small amount of bodywork damage after a bump, whiteworm on all four Monzas). I appreciate I’ll never see a return on the cash, but does anyone offer a “refresh” service to bring it back up to scratch? I’ll probably have it for another 2-3 years and wouldn’t mind it being in a bit better shape.
Just needs a good clean and maybe a pass on the lathe. Few bumps are easy enough to sort out. Depends how far you want to go with it. Why not just give it a deep clean on the next dry weekend, seats out, carpets and interior washed, full outside clean with a polish and wax then get a local wheel refurb place to give the wheels a quick cut.
Honestly, and I realise many will judge me, I just want someone to sort it for me. I’m in central London, don’t have the greatest access to parking near the house, and just suspect that if I add these jobs to the to-do list they’ll never get done. The whiteworm’d wheels is a case in point, they’ve been on my list of things to get round to doing for years. More money than sense I’m afraid, and that says more about my sense than my money!

Is it the 18’’ Diamond cut Monzas? Whiteworm is inevitable on them.
Refurb is probably around £80 a corner.
Yeah, I have it on the boot badge as well (even bought a replacement a few years ago) but haven’t done anything about it yet. They do look awful! I think mine are the worst I’ve seen.Refurb is probably around £80 a corner.
It's only got stuff growing around the windows because you haven't cleaned it. This doesn't happen overnight or even over just a few weeks.
Pay the local hand carwash place to clean it if you are too lazy to do it and then drop it off at a place that will refurb the wheels. There is a decent place in Uxbridge (Bespoke Alloys) depending on where you live.

There’s a company in London on e of bay that will swap your old alloys for refurbished replacements while you wait. I think they were call first aid alloys. Saves waiting a few days to get yours refurbished. Gassing Station | Audi, Seat, Skoda & VW | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
