Brighton - Recommendations
Discussion
So it looks like I will be in Brighton on a project for the foreseeable and having to eat out most evenings! Any recommendations? Rather get some personal ones here rather than just relying on Tripadvisor. It has a Patty and Bun, so that's the Burger options covered, and Sushi Garden was also nice! Keen to hear some others.
I ate here one evening when I was working in Brighton - small plates of food. Very good:

We've always enjoyed English's in The Lanes. Has a lovely old school Oyster Bar feel.

Go West and there's good restaurants in Hove too.
Brighton council is in the grip of Labour and the Greens, thanks principally to the two Universities at the back of the town (by the Amex). Thus anyone daring to own one of those nasty polluting motor vehicles is beyond redemption annd punished financially. Evening street parking is tighter than daytime as residents return from working up North at Gatwick, crawley and London.
Buses are pretty good but not cheap - bit better with the app.
Loads of pubs catering for all tastes, Lewes and Shoreham are long established communities so lots of pubs there too but sadly fewer than there used to be.

I eat out in Brighton pretty regularly so here is my list...
My favourite has always been The Set, especially chefs table, it's very informal but great food in a nice setting
If you like Japanese/Korean then Bincho Yakitori is brilliant, it's basic and small but the food is very good.
Steaks in Coal Shed are very good.
The Chilli Pickle is a great 'non traditional' Indian
Food for Friends is a nice vegetarian option for lunch
The Little Fish Market is great for... (I'll let you guess)
For the best coffee go to Cafe Coho
Have fun and let us know where you've liked!

I live in Brighton and eat out a lot, we now have some fab restaurants here. If you’re here for a while and want bar/entertainment ideas etc feel free to PM or post here.
Echo The Set, Chilli Pickle and 64 Degrees
Opposite Bincho is another Japanese Kujira. I rate it more highly but try both, very reasonably priced.
Market Restaurant is consistently amazing (I think it’s the best place in town!)
Flint House is great. They don’t take bookings but have a lovely upstairs bar and roof terrace if you’re forced to have a cocktail and wait
it’s owned by the people who run the Gingerman group of local restaurants. Also worth trying the original Gingerman and their gastro pub the Ginger Dog.
Cin Cin - really lovely a cut above Italian. Handmade pasta etc
A bit out of your way perhaps but Semolina and Paradiso Social (near London Road end of town).
French - Plateau and Mangetout both great.
If you like seafood book The Urchin pub in Hove, it’s outstanding, fresh and all at pub type prices.
