My father passed away last year, but in a different country, his phone was also stolen.
Spoke to O2, gave them his mobile number and IEMI number of his phone, asked them to block them both, which they confirmed they did.

However, his Whatsapp profile is still running, and was last online on the 17th Feb.

Can anyone tell me how i can have this account disabled or take ownership of this?

I'm sorry, I can't help but that must be really distressing.

I hope it works out for you.

Probably best through the 'Contact' page of the WhatsApp website.

It might be quicker to ask for a replacement Sim on the same number, stick it in a handset then do the following: https://faq.whatsapp.com/an/web/26000018/

How can a company so large, not have a call center, bloody useless.

Email has been sent, hopefully they can deactivate that account.
Seems like his phone, although blocked, is still being used on WiFi, i blocked his mobile number/SIM and the operator the IMEI number of his phone too.

Thank you for the help.

This would be the fastest way. You could have the sim and pac and then follow the above all in a couple of hours

android or IOS ?

If you have his email and password details ( apple id or google ) - then have you tried remote wiping the device - as that would remove the whatsapp config

Because it's a free service.
