Interested in hearing thoughts on where the value of 987 R models may be heading. I have a low mileage manual car in Peridot green that's going to get used even less due to the arrival of a baby. I'm torn between tucking it away in the garage for the future and selling now so all input is gratefully received.

Cayman R is the dream for me and something I aspire to own one day!

Based on nothing but personal opinion. I think that there will be a small decline over the next 1 - 2 years, but then 3 - 5 year will see values increase. I would be keeping hold if you don't need the capital (assuming its not financed).

I would agree with the above, they stayed still for a long while and lately have been dropping a little the last couple of years...... they will get to about 10 years old when the people that lusted after them new get to a point in life where they have a bit of spare change and then the values will start going up

I have never really read a bad review, there achingly pretty (IMHO) and there a proper limited run car

yes - I own one biggrin and I love it there fantastic

There aren't actually that many for sale at the moment. People seem to be keeping hold of the good spec cars.

3-5 years all ICE cars will be banned. Only museums will want one example of a GT car perhaps. Others will be crushed.

Owners of GT cars will be queuing at Beaulieu gates crying "please... take mine, take mine... it's done 783 miles since new over 10 years and you can have it for £500!"

A punch up between owners ensues...

Mines about to clip 40k too. Shall we have a ceremonial burning of them together? biggrin

IF ICE is banned it will be with regard to public roads. track days will explode in popularity and land owners will have large areas of tarmac laid down in order to be able to continue enjoying burning fossil fuel.

initial stages will be to ban sale of new ICE cars, they will not blanket ban the use of ICE cars in this short time frame as electric and hydrogen cars are not a viable alternative for most right now.

by that time comes I suspect the graphene battery tech will have advanced and electric or hydrogen cars are then suitable, but you cannot sell an ICE car the day before the the sales ban and then not use it for its 5 to 10 year projected life as this is then a greater issue for sustainability.

Petrol/Diesel will be sold for decades so the sales ban "could" increase values for any sort after ICE car post this ban, by the time Petrol is not being sold i suspect my R will not be fit for road use anyway, that said why worry about the value when we know this kind of car will never be made again, drive it like its meant to be and enjoy it as much as you can before we are all being driven around in self driving electric things
